ScanPro Optimal PC settings  8 steps
(they all matter, including step 4 regarding the antivirus!)

1. Windows Up to date

2. Latest version of PowerScan Software

3. Check USB3.0 cable plugged in snug. Always good to unplug and plug back in both sides. Do not use the USB3.0 port on the front of the PC, this could work in a lower power setting.

4. Add two FOLDERS to the exceptions list of your Antivirus program. (no wildcards, exact folder names)

C:\ProgramData\PowerScan xxxx     ( you might need to unhide this folder)

           C:\Program Files (x86)\PowerScan xxxx [64-bit]    or    C:\Program Files\PowerScan xxxx [32 bit])

Some notes about this: it is getting more common that agencies have more than one antivirus program operating. This step must be completed on any and all antivirus programs running on the PC.

Also, please make sure you put the actual folder name and no wild cards. It is best to navigate through your antivirus program and click on the folders to add them as opposed to typing them.  There are two folders to consider here.

5. Open Control Panel

-under "Preferred Plans" choose the highest performance setting available.

6. Still in Control Panel, Power Options

         -click on "Change Plan Settings"

-click on "Change advanced power settings"

          -See two snapshots below

8.Please check the computer BIOS settings. Look for "C" States, "S" states and Deep Sleep states. Disable all of these.   NOT ALL PC's ARE THE SAME, THIS MIGHT  TAKE RESEARCH TO FIND THESE THREE SETTINGS ON YOUR PC.

Below is example for DELL Optiplex:

hit F2 while rebooting

-C STATE CONTROL , under PERFORMANCE, it was checked, i unchecked it.

-DEEP SLEEP CONTROL  under POWER MANAGEMENT  it was enabled in S4 and S5, i disabled it.

-BLOCK SLEEP under POWER MANAGEMENT it was unchecked , i checked it
